Finding Correct Intertitles
One of the challenges of the Biograph Project is finding the correct intertitles. We find intertitles many different ways: sometimes they are to be found on the paper prints, submitted for copyright before 1912. Post-summer of 1912, the intertitles are with the copyright records at the Library of Congress. There are also, in the very later years, existing inter title cards and scripts at the Museum of Modern Art. And occasionally, we find a 35mm positive print with titles intact. If we generate intertitles denovo, we always indicated by the FPS logo on the frame.
